Shannon Wiratchai returned to action in the most exciting way possible.
The Thai star battered Iran’s Poriya Golpour to secure a first-round knockout in their featherweight MMA match at ONE Friday Fights 3 at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok this Friday.
Things started slowly for Wiratchai as he defended mightily against Golpour’s wrestling pressure and was eventually called with a yellow card after clinging on to the ropes a few times too many.

After getting back to his feet, ‘OneShin’ came alive and launched an inspired flurry that broke through Golpour’s defenses.
Wiratchai then tagged the Iranian grappler with a quick right hook before a stream of ground and pound forced the referee to stop the action 4:33 into the first.
In his post-fight interview with Mitch Chilson, Wiratchai said that he had no qualms about the yellow card while giving props to Golpour’s aggression.
Shannon Wiratchai said:
“I was a bit too tired today, I was quite nervous coming back after two and a half years. Credit to Poriya, he’s a good grappler, a good wrestler, it wasn’t easy to defend his takedowns. I got the yellow card, I deserved it, lucky I got it. [the win]”
Wiratchai, who fought Chilson in his ONE Championship debut in August 2012, chalked up his second straight win after taking a split decision victory over France’s Fabio Pinca in August 2020.
