ONE Friday Fights 81 results: Superbon vs. Jo Nattawut

In the ONE Friday Fights 81 main event, ONE interim featherweight kickboxing world champion Superbon returned to 'The Art Of Eight Limbs' against former ONE world title challenger ‘Smokin’ Jo Nattawut.

Round 1: Superbon comes out with a couple of front kicks and Nattawut responds with a high kick. The Bangkok-based star comes right back with a head kick of his own. The two fighters continue trading kicks, but Nattawut mixes in a left to the body. Nattawut tries to get his hands going but eats a counter elbow from Superbon that has ‘Smokin’ busted open.

In close, Superbon lands another sneaky elbow inside and then promptly dumps Nattawut on the canvas. Initially ruled a slip, Nattawut was clearly compromised from the elbow, prompting the referee to initiate a 10-count. Nattawut fought his way back up but was unable to raise his arms.

As a result, the referee waved off the fight, awarding Superbon the first-round stoppage.

With the victory over Jo Nattawut, Superbon not only secured his first Muay Thai victory under the ONE Championship banner, but he also made a very strong case for a rematch with ONE featherweight Muay Thai world champion Tawanchai.

The featherweight kickboxing star also earned himself a $50,000 bonus for his performance, courtesy of ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.

As for Nattawut, the Thai fan favorite has now lost three of his last four fights, including two losses against Tawanchai and a brutal first-round KO loss to Superbon.

Nattawut is still scheduled to clash with Tawanchai in a trilogy bout at ONE 169: Atlanta in November, but it’ll be interesting to see if those plans change given what transpired inside the 'Mecca of Muay Thai' on Friday.
