Osamah Almarwai working with Andre Galvao, Ruotolo brothers to prepare for Mikey Musumeci

Yemen's first-ever BJJ blackbelt Osamah Almarwai is heading for the biggest bout of his grappling career as he locks horns with Mikey Musumeci at ONE Fight Night 10. 'Osa', as his fans would call him, will be making his ONE Championship debut by challenging 'Darth Rigatoni' for the ONE flyweight submission grappling world title. He will do so in ONE's first-ever US show on May 5 at the 1stBank Center in Colorado.

Ahead of his world title clash with Mikey Musumeci, Osamah Almarwai has been training extensively at the Atos BJJ academy in San Diego, California. Working with him are two of the best grapplers today, the Ruotolo brothers, under the tutelage of ADCC legend Andre Galvao.

On working with such an elite group of submission grapplers, Osamah Almarwai told ONE:

"I also have to be wary of doing leg entanglements. I’m training for this, of course. I have the best leg-lockers in the game at Atos. I have [Andre] Galvao, who is a six-time ADCC World Champion. We have the Ruotolos. We have many other colored belts you guys don’t know about, but they’re very good leg-lockers. So yeah, I’m confident. I’m ready for the match."

In his most recent world title defense, Mikey Musumeci absolutely destroyed Gantumur Bayanduuren's knee with a series of leg locks at ONE Fight Night 6. His mastery of heel hooks and knee bars is certainly a point of concern for Almarwai, who wisely employed the help of Galvao and the Ruotolos in learning how to deal with it.

Apart from being Yemen's first-ever jiujitsu blackbelt, Osamah Almarwai is an IBJJF No-GI world champion, American Nationals No-Gi champion, and Pan No-Gi champion. He is also riding an impressive 6-fight unbeaten streak and will look to make a huge splash on his ONE debut come May 5th.
