Oscar De La Hoya recently lavished praise on his former foe Floyd Mayweather for his incredible career, which saw him retire with an undefeated record.
'Money' was regarded as one of the greatest fighters of his generation for his stellar boxing record and performances. Throughout his career, Mayweather became known for his high boxing IQ in that he would go through an entire fight without absorbing many significant strikes, which allowed him to have the longevity that he did.
During his appearance on former Super Bowl winner Shannon Sharpe's Club Shay Shay, 'The Golden Boy' lamented praise on the unbeaten boxing legend's work ethic. De La Hoya mentioned that Mayweather dedicated himself to becoming the best boxer possible and believes others should consider emulating in order to achieve success. He said:
"[Mayweather's] a professional. He knows how to stay lean and stay active and always in the gym. And fighters and kids who want to become champions should emulate exactly what Floyd did inside the ring and inside the gym...What makes him unique is obviously his boxing ability but his ring generalship is what does it for me. He knows how to pick his spots...how to get you tired without even throwing punches, it's crazy."
