Fans reacted to Islam Makhachev competing in a friendly soccer event where he faced off with a professional goalkeeper.
In May 2015, Makhachev made his UFC debut with a professional MMA record of 11-0. Little did most fans know that the Dagestan native, who trained with Khabib Nurmagomedov for most of his life, would evolve into the UFC lightweight champion and the pound-for-pound best fighter on the planet.
Earlier this week, a video went viral on social media of Makhachev competing in another sport - soccer (also known as football). The footage showcased the world-class mixed martial artist participating in an altered version of a penalty shootout against Dynamo Makhachkala's Egas Cacintura.
One of the Russian soccer team's goalkeepers was protecting the net and Makhachev managed to score. Khabib Nurmagomedov was in attendance, giving fans another reason to voice their reasons in the Twitter comment section:

"P4P best footballer"
"Charles would’ve kicked that shii way faster and harder"
"There's nothing Islam can't do."
"Islam can actually play ball"

Islam Makhachev may have scored past the professional goalkeeper, but his athletic skills are still better for the Octagon. Following a fourteen-fight winning streak, the pound-for-pound king looks to continue building his resume.

What's next for Islam Makhachev in the UFC?
In June, Islam Makhachev made his latest Octagon appearance against Dustin Poirier. 'The Diamond' proved to be a tough challenge for the lightweight champion, but Makhachev ultimately won following a fifth-round submission.
The most likely next opponent for Makhachev is number one-ranked Arman Tsarukyan, who is coming off a split-decision win against Charles Oliveira. Tsarukyan and Makhachev have a history, as they first fought in the UFC in April 2019, with Makhachev emerging victorious by unanimous decision.
There isn't much of an argument for someone other than Tsarukyan to fight Makhachev next. With that said, another top-ranked matchup to keep an eye on is number two-ranked Charles Oliveira vs. number six-ranked Michael Chandler, which goes down on November 15 in the UFC 309 co-main event.
