MMA fans around the world have had conflicting opinions over Paddy Pimblett's evaluation of Renato Moicano surrendering to Islam Makhachev's choke. Many chastised Pimblett for his remarks, pointing out that because Makhachev's submission move was so tight, even he would have tapped.
Moicano had the opportunity of a lifetime when he challenged Makhachev for the lightweight title in the main event of UFC 311 this past weekend. The Dagestani fighter was previously slated to face Arman Tsarukyan.
However, Tsarukyan withdrew from the bout before the event due to a back injury. Moicano, who was scheduled to face Beneil Dariush on the same night, jumped for a title fight at short notice.
Unfortunately, Moicano's plans were derailed when Makhachev submitted him via D'Arce choke in the opening round to make his fourth title defense. Pimblett posted his reaction on social media and was unhappy with the Brazilian for tapping out.
