English UFC lightweight star Paddy Pimblett is set to face divisional veteran Bobby King Green at UFC 304 in Manchester this weekend. Pimblett did his usual pre-fight media scrum before he clashed with the lightweight slugger.

One of the interesting questions of the night is when Paddy 'The Baddie' was asked what he thought of the recent legal name change Green did. The American fighter changed his name from Bobby Green to Bobby King Green, adding the word 'King', his long-time nickname.

Pimblett said (via MMA Fighting):

"It shows how much of a d**khead he is. Imagine being 40 years of age and changing your name to 'king'. It's embarrassing lad, you know what I mean? Like I said in other interviews, CTE is real."

The real reason why Bobby Green chose to legally change

As opposed to Paddy Pimblett's assessment of Bobby King Green's reason to change his name, the American slugger has a deeper meaning to his decision. Green has been planning to change his name legally as far back as April 2023.

Ahead of his fight with Jared Gordon at UFC Fight Night 71, Green explained why he planned on changing his name. Speaking to Charly Arnolt of ESPN MMA, he said:

"I come from a broken background where I didn't have a mother, didn't have a father, all those different things. Being in foster care. And letting people know that you can come from ground zero, having nothing, being homeless to building whatever it is that you're trying to build. Whatever you're trying to be, I don't want anybody to feel like they can't do it."

Green continued:

"If I did it with the circumstances I had, you can too. It's just about showing somebody that I'm a king, just like you. You're a king or a queen and I treat everybody like royalty..."
