On June 28, Paige VanZant became the most notable Power Slap competitor when she debuted with the promotion at Power Slap 8 in Las Vegas. The former UFC strawweight dominated the match, beating Christine Wolmarans by judges' decision.

After the event, UFC CEO and Power Slap founder Dana White praised VanZant for her performance and noted the significance of her participation in the league. White hoped that her success would influence more females to sign with the promotion, but '12 Gauge' noted that all of her associates think she is "absolutely insane" for being a part of the sport.

In her post-match interview, VanZant said:

"No women have contacted me with interest in Power Slap yet. They all think I'm absolutely insane for doing this. Maybe after they saw the way I competed — seeing somebody who was at the highest level of MMA being able to compete very well in this sport — maybe that will entice them to come over as well."

The 30-year-old spoke on how much "fun" she had in the match while saying that she saw her slap-fighting venture as a hobby rather than a full-time career.

With the win over Wolmarans, VanZant picked up her first win in any combat sports competition since submitting Rachael Ostovich in 2019. The former MMA fighter left the UFC in 2020 and has since gone 0-2 with BKFC and 0-1 in celebrity boxing.

Will Paige VanZant continue competing in Power Slap?

After winning her Power Slap debut, Paige VanZant seemed to desire a short-term future in slap fighting beyond her win over Christine Wolmarans.

Immediately after her win, VanZant said that Power Slap was "too much fun to walk away from" and she believes she will have a "long relationship" with Dana White.

VanZant said:

"I want to thank Dana for brining me to Power Slap. I know this is the start of a long relationship... Honestly, this is too much fun to walk away from. That was so awesome. I keep telling everybody: I'm a gangster."

At the time of Power Slap 8, the promotion does not have another event currently scheduled. Instead, they are focusing on promoting the upcoming release of the third edition of Road to the Title.
