The Paris 2024 Boxing Unit (PBU) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recently issued a joint statement addressing the ongoing scrutiny against Algerian boxer Imane Khelif's participation in this year's Olympic Games.
The IOC is presently contending with a barrage of censure on social media for allowing Khelif and Taiwan's Lin Yu-Ting to compete in women's sports at the 2024 Paris Olympics despite their previous suspensions resulting from gender eligibility tests.
Adding more fuel to the fire, the controversy intensified when Khelif faced Italy's Angela Carini on Thursday. Carini, after taking several punches, unexpectedly refused to continue the bout around the 46-second mark.

In a recent statement, the IOC clarified that all athletes competing in this year's boxing tournament strictly adhere to the competition's eligibility criteria, as well as all pertinent medical guidelines established by the PBU. A portion of the statement read:
"Every person has the right to practise sport without discrimination. All athletes participating in the boxing tournament of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 comply with the competition’s eligibility and entry regulations, as well as all applicable medical regulations set by the Paris 2024 Boxing Unit. As with previous Olympic boxing competitions, the gender and age of the athletes are based on their passports."
Khelif initially faced disqualification merely hours before her gold medal match at the Women's World Boxing Championships in New Delhi, India, last year after failing a gender verification test mandated by the International Boxing Association (IBA).
However, in June 2023, the IOC revoked the IBA's authority to oversee international amateur boxing. This decision ultimately cleared the path for Khelif to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Jake Paul extends undercard offer to Angela Carini amid Imane Khelif gender controversy
Jake Paul recently extended an invitation to Angela Carini to showcase her boxing prowess under the banner of his Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) after the Italian boxer abruptly abandoned her Olympic bout against Imane Khelif.
'The Problem Child', who is set to face the legendary Mike Tyson in a super fight on Nov. 15, announced on X that Carini has an open invitation to fight at any MVP event whenever she feels ready:
"To Angela Carini, although your dreams couldn’t come true today because of the crazy agendas that are at play in our world at the moment, I would love to offer you to fight on an MVP undercard, to show the world your talents on a fair platform and not against a man. Internet help this find her."
