Jon Jones' age has just been brought up by the man himself on X. In the wake of his successful UFC 309 heavyweight title defense, Jones tweeted out his pride in presumably being the oldest champion on the UFC roster. The fans, however, were quick to correct him in a thread formed under his tweet.

13 years ago, Jones made MMA history by becoming the youngest-ever UFC champion. Now, he has taken to X to pat himself on the back for the accomplishment, while also making the erroneous claim that he is the oldest current champion on the roster.

"In 2011, I became the youngest champion in UFC history. Today, I'm proud to stand as the oldest champion on the roster.. Age is just a number when your mind and spirit stay sharp."

Unfortunately, Jones' claim was quickly disproved by the community notes, which revealed that reigning light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira is the oldest champion in the promotion, being 12 days senior than Jones. This was noted by a fan, who reminded Jones of Pereira.

"Alex is older than you"

This was parroted by another fan, who noted the former kickboxing great's senior status compared to Jones.

"Pereira is older"

Others, meanwhile, found humor in how quickly the community notes corrected Jones.

"Cooked by the community notes"

The praise for the community notes continued:

Now, 'Bones' is expected to defend his status as the heavyweight champion against the division's interim titleholder, Tom Aspinall, who has been challenging Jones to a fight for some time now. However, Jones claims he will only do so for an exceptional fee.

Jon Jones has expressed interest in fighting Alex Pereira

Amid Tom Aspinall's relentless callouts, Jon Jones opted to dismiss the Englishman's challenges in favor of eyeing the current UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira. The interest is mutual, with 'Poatan' having previously called for a heavyweight title fight.

The only obstacles to that matchup coming to fruition are Aspinall and UFC CEO Dana White, the latter of whom feels that 'Poatan' is best served staying at light heavyweight.
