The stars did align for rising featherweight Muay Thai star Luke Lessei as he served us his first TKO finish during last weekend's ONE Fight Night 27. The incredible first-round knockout against Canadian opponent Cody Jerome took only two minutes and cemented his position as one of the sport's most promising up-and-comers.
The 28-year-old may be the man standing inside the ring, but Lessei's win is also thanks to the remarkable people standing behind him. 'The Chef' was quick to credit his flawless performance to his coaching team.
He acknowledged his father and his coaches in the post-fight interview with Nick Atkin's ONE Championship News, saying:
"More confident than I ever had before. So it's just a testament to the 20 years my dad put in, like, planting the seed, getting me into Muay Thai, and then Coach Peach and Coach Shane Fazen at Beacon MMA making sure I'm on point. Like, everything just went perfect. I really can't say that enough. We really did have the perfect fight week."

"The KO is always there" - Luke Lessei trusted his coach's game plan to overcome Canadian sniper Cody Jerome
A notable aspect of 'The Chef' Luke Lessei's spectacular performance in ONE Fight Night 27 was his decisiveness, thanks to his absolute faith in the game plan his coach Bob Peach drew up against Canadian opponent Cody Jerome.
Describing their game plan for the fight, Lessei said:
"Not necessarily looking for the KO, but the KO is always there especially with the system that we're working with Coach Bob Peach over at Beacon. He's got a good game plan, a good strategy going to deal with a pressure fighter and a volume fighter like Cody."
Lessei's unwavering trust in his coach's strategy proved to make the difference as he ended the night with another win under his belt.
