Francis Ngannou vs. Renan Ferreira took place at PFL Super FIghts at The Mayadeen in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia today. The highly anticipated heavyweight main event was billed as the 'Battle of the Giants' and was contested for the PFL heavyweight Super Fights championship.
Ngannou was making his promotional debut after joining the PFL following his departure from the UFC, where he was the reigning heavyweight champion. Since joining the promotion, he has competed in two boxing bouts and was looking to bounce back from his knockout loss to Anthony Joshua and prove he is still a force to be reckoned with in the heavyweight division.
Ferreira, on the other hand, was looking to become a massive star at the expense of 'The Predator' and stake his claim for being the top heavyweight in the world. The 2023 PFL heavyweight champion came into the bout following his impressive knockout win over reigning Bellator heavyweight champion Ryan Bader this past February.

'The Predator' and the Brazilian exchanged leg kicks while finding openings for a knockout blow. Moments later, Ngannou surprisingly secured a takedown and controlled Ferreira on the ground before finishing him with vicious ground-and-pound to win the PFL heavyweight Super Fights championship. It was an emotional scene following the bout as Ngannou embraced his coaches.

With his spectacular win over Renan Ferreira, Francis Ngannou has now won a championship in both the UFC and PFL.
Ngannou was understandably emotional during his post-fight interview, thanking the fans in Riyadh and paying tribute to his late son Kobe for being his motivation to fight. He admitted that he is unclear whether he will compete in boxing or MMA next and will take time to decide.
