Umar Nurmagomedov came up short in his attempt to be the bantamweight champion at UFC 311. Nurmagomedov's manager Ali Abdelaziz uploaded on X, which featured a picture of the 29-year-old's hand. Abdelaziz claimed that the Dagestani suffered a hand injury in the very first round of the title fight.

"Umar Nurmagomedov broke his hands first round. No excuse, no excuse. Alhamdulillah for everything."

An MMA account named @ChamRDS also shared the picture on X and several MMA fans shared their reactions to it in the comments section.

One fan argued that Nurmagomedov should not get any sympathy for the alleged injury.

"So? Fighters can fight injured and still win fights. There is no sympathy in this game for anyone once that cage door closes."

Another individual opined how the Dagestani's injury was not a surprise, considering the change in his fighting style.

"It was kind of obvious that he hurt his hand early on because his fighting style was changed. However, as Ali said, no excuses. This is the fight game where injuries unfortunately occur."

One person congratulated Merab Dvalishvili and shared words of encouragement for Nurmagomedov.

"Congrats Merab, incredible champ you are. To Umar, that 0 will only add pressure for you, it's okay to lose. Coming back stronger."
