Legendary boxing coach Teddy Atlas weighs in on potential Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury fight
Last weekend, undisputed heavyweight champ and former Anthony Joshua foe Oleksandr Usyk solidified his place as the best heavyweight boxer today by beating pound-for-pound great Tyson Fury for a second time.
In his last outing, Joshua was brutally knocked out by Daniel Dubois inside five rounds back in September. With both him and Fury suffering a loss in their last bouts, talks are now surfacing about the two finally facing each other. An Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury fight has been speculated and anticipated for many years now but is still yet to happen.
In a recent interview with Radio Rahim ringside at the Usyk-Fury II card, legendary boxing trainer Teddy Atlas chimed in on a potential Joshua-Fury clash:
"I think that Fury is probably more versatile, he probably has more dimensions to him. Joshua is a better puncher, I think. Setting himself for one good shot... I think that would be a good fight because both guys are coming off losses, both guys are coming off where they've both lost a little piece of themselves. So, it, kind of, evens out."
Ultimately, Atlas gives Joshua the edge due to his physical strength and youth. However, he also cites the brutal knockout loss to Dubois as something that might affect the British fighter mentally come fight night.
