“Pressure is also important for me” - Stephen Loman turns pressure into motivation against Bibiano Fernandes

Stephen Loman is embracing the pressure building up to his matchup against Bibiano Fernandes.

Loman has a statement to make at ONE on Prime Video 4. ‘The Sniper’ is 2-0 with ONE Championship and has received a step up in competition against the Brazilian former world champion.

During an interview with The MMA Superfan, the Team Lakay fighter had this to say about transforming pressure into motivation:

“Of course there’s pressure to always be on top because you have to maintain that status you’re in. But this is what we wanted to do, and it’s our responsibility to always be one of the best teams out there.”

He continued by saying:

“We’re here already, so we really have to do our best to stay here at the top. But that extra pressure is also a bit of motivation for us. We always have to be positive and keep working to improve on what we are right now… Pressure is also important for me, I have to keep going at him, that's why I’m pushing myself hard in training.”

The 27-year-old has a tough test awaiting at ONE on Prime Video 4. Fernandes recently lost the ONE bantamweight world title, and he’s extra motivated heading into the matchup against Loman.

Luckily for ‘The Sniper,’ he’s been expecting a matchup against ‘The Flash’ even before joining ONE Championship.

Stephen Loman always knew he would fight Bibiano Fernandes

Stephen Loman is more than prepared to take on Bibiano Fernandes. Before signing with ONE Championship, Loman was the bantamweight champion with BRAVE FC, where he was already thinking about Fernandes, the ONE bantamweight world champion at the time.

While speaking with ONE, he had this to say about manifesting a matchup against ‘The Flash’:

"Actually, I’ve always thought that Bibiano and I would be fighting even when I was still the champion in my previous organization. Some of the fans kept telling me, ‘You will face Bibiano soon’ and that got me excited, to be honest. Just hearing that gives me that rush, you know. That’s why every time I trained, I always pictured myself going up against Bibiano, and now that it’s finally here, I’m really ready."

Loman could be the next ONE world champion out of Team Lakay. Mark Sangiao continues to produce elite talent, and ‘The Sniper’ looks to join that group by taking out the former bantamweight champion and inching closer to a title shot.
