One fan speculated that Ferguson might get released by the UFC and go on to fight in another promotion. The individual instead requested for the 40-year-old to retire from the sport:
"The UFC has probably cut him & he's probably going to be fighting in a weird promotion. Tony should just retire from competition, he's going to end up taking unnecessary damage. He has given us classic fights and he was the interim champ, he has nothing else to prove now."
Another claimed that the former UFC interim champion could be planning on starting his own fight promotion:
"He's gonna start his own promotion."
The possibility of Ferguson launching his own energy drink was also brought up by a fan:
"He starting an energy drink company."

Tony Ferguson has not won a fight since June 2019
Former interim UFC lightweight champion Tony Ferguson is currently going through a rough patch in the UFC. 'El Cucuy' has failed to secure a victory in his last eight outings.
Out of those eight losses, five have come via finishes - two knockouts and three submissions. Ferguson's last victory came in June 2019 when he defeated Donald Cerrone via TKO at UFC 238.
In addition to his current losing streak, Ferguson is now 40 years old. So, many might suggest it to be ideal for the UFC veteran to hang up his gloves and walk away from the sport.
