BKFC 69 was held at the Gas South Arena in Duluth, Georgia, on Dec. 6. Two fights on the card concluded in under one minute into the first round. In the main event, former BKFC bantamweight champion Keith Richardson knocked Michael Larrimore out at the 0:21 mark of Round 1. However, Watson's remarkable 2.9-second KO became a major talking point heading out of the event.
BKFC co-owner Conor McGregor reacted to Justin Watson's KO victory
Conor McGregor, who acquired part ownership of BKFC earlier this year, has been a strong advocate for the growth of bare-knuckle fighting as a major format in combat sports. Over the past few months, he has played a pivotal role in promoting BKFC events and was particularly impressed with the outcome of Justin Watson vs. Cole Ferrell.
Following the event, McGregor posted the highlight reel KO on his Instagram story. The caption read:
"The world's fastest KO! WOW!"
McGregor, considered one of the greatest strikers in the sport, has created quite a few records himself. He became the first simultaneous two-division champion in UFC history. The 36-year-old also holds the record for the fastest finish in UFC title fights, having knocked Jose Aldo out in 13 seconds into their featherweight title unification bout in Dec. 2015.
Additionally, the Irishman boasts a remarkable victory in under five seconds, having knocked out Paddy Doherty at the 4-second mark of their April 2011 bout.
