Mikey Musumeci has always been best defined by his second-to-none work ethic that has seen him stay at the top for such a long time. The ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion is usually found in the gym when he isn't consuming pasta.
His intensity rarely wavers, but the champ has been taking it up a notch ahead of his biggest matchup to date under the ONE banner.
Since both men signed for the promotion, there have been questions aimed at Mikey and Kade Ruotolo about whether we could ever see them face off with one another.
The biggest hurdle in stopping this from happening is that whilst they both have a lot of respect for one another, they're separated by multiple weight classes.

But, Musumeci has always been a risk taker, so he has doubled down on himself heading into September 6 by meeting the lightweight champion in his own weight class.
To prepare for this clash between two of the best in the world, 'Darth Rigatoni' has been pushing himself to the limit, as he detailed in a recent interview with ONE Championship:
"Recovery becomes almost like a training session to try to reset my nervous system from being so fried from the training I'm doing."
Mikey Musumeci takes great pride in this contest
Mikey Musumeci had previously not been overly interested in this particular contest because of the gulf in weight between them.
However, with ONE Championship returning to the United States for ONE 168 in Denver, everything fell into place.
It will be champion vs. champion at the Ball Arena on September 6 in what is sure to be a massive moment for submission grappling.
Musumeci may have nothing to lose from the outside looking in but you can guarantee that he will do whatever it takes to get the win.
Tickets for ONE 168: Denver are available via Ticketmaster.
