Fourth-ranked ONE Championship flyweight MMA contender and former world title challenger 'Lightning' Reece McLaren of Australia knows exactly what he's up against when he steps inside the ring opposite ONE interim strawweight MMA world champion 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks next week.

The 33-year-old Gold Coast native acknowledges the fact that Brooks is one of the best wrestlers in the organization and a complete fighter at that.

However, McLaren also believes Brooks is just not big enough to contend with him at flyweight, and the CMBT Training Centre product is looking to make a statement when the two face off next week.

Speaking to Sportskeeda MMA in an exclusive interview, McLaren said that Brooks' wrestling may be rendered ineffective due to the sheer size difference between them.

'Lightning' stated:

"Not against me, anyway. Not a big wrestler like myself."

When asked what fans can expect from him when he steps back inside the ONE Championship ring next week to face such a dangerous opponent, McLaren gave a very simple but foreboding answer.

The Australian star said:

"Violence. One word - violence."

The winner of this bout could potentially be next in line to challenge for the vacant ONE flyweight MMA world title, left behind by recently retired legend 'Mighty Mouse' Demetrious Johnson. So, a lot is at stake in this pivotal divisional contest.
