Reigning ONE lightweight Muay Thai world champion and former lightweight kickboxing king 'The Immortal' Regian Eersel of Suriname and The Netherlands takes inspiration from a handful of athletes from all sorts of combat disciplines.

Eersel considers himself an avid student of the fight game, and as such, he likes to emulate the best fighters in their respective sports.

Speaking to MMA UK in a recent interview, Eersel listed the who's who of the martial arts world -- the athletes he looks up to.

'The Immortal' said:

"It's a very tough question. I like heavyweight boxing right now. Anthony Joshua, I watch when he's going to fight. In the past, it was Deontay Wilder, but I don't know what happened with him, mentally. MMA, yeah, of course, Jon 'Bones' Jones, but he doesn't fight a lot, I don't know if I should mention his name because he doesn't fight a lot. Yeah, Israel Adesanya, style-wise, of course. And, yeah, I think that's it. Boxing. I like to watch Gervonta Davis also and Canelo Alvarez."

Those are some very big names indeed. However, Eersel should count himself among the greats. Today, 'The Immortal' is considered one of the most accomplished lightweight strikers in the world today. Some say, he's the best of the pack.

Eersel will look to prove his place among the upper echelon once more this weekend, when he returns to the ONE Championship ring.
