ONE lightweight Muay Thai world champion 'The Immortal' Regian Eersel is dead serious about testing his skills in the mixed martial arts realm.
The 31-year-old Sityodtong Amsterdam representative and former lightweight kickboxing king says he trained jiu-jitsu and grappling with his dad's team in 2020, where he gained invaluable experience and mat time.
Speaking to MMA UK in a recent interview, Eersel talked about training in jiu-jitsu.

'The Immortal' said:
"I did some grappling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu during the COVID-19 period. So I think one year, one and a half years. By the way, my dad is a black belt in jiu-jitsu, [he's a] teacher also. I was training with his team."
The former two-sport world champion Eersel is set to lock horns with current lightweight kickboxing kingpin 'Barboza' Alexis Nicolas in a highly anticipated rematch for ONE gold.
The two do battle at ONE Fight Night 25: Nicolas vs. Eersel II on Prime Video, which broadcasts live from the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday, Oct. 4.

Regian Eersel is open to mixed martial arts tenure in ONE if he is given "time to prepare"
'The Immortal' Regian Eersel is getting ready for the most important fight of his career in a rematch against rival 'Barboza' Alexis Nicolas at ONE Fight Night 25 on Prime Video in October.
But the 31-year-old can't help but think of a potential switch to mixed martial arts, which he says is very possible under the ONE Championship banner.
Eersel told MMA UK:
"If the terms are good, you know, and they offer good money and they give me time to prepare, I would do an MMA fight, of course."
