Just days away from ONE on Prime Video 3, Regian Eersel is heading towards one of the biggest world title clashes of his prestigious career. Facing a knockout sensation in Sinsamut Klinmee, Eersel will have to think twice before underestimating his Thai rival.

Regian ‘The Immortal’ Eersel is already the ONE lightweight kickboxing world champion but is looking forward to conquering another sport in the division. Although Eersel has had championship experience inside the ring, he won’t rule out Sinsamut Klinmee as a threat to himself and the ONE lightweight Muay Thai world title.

Speaking at the ONE on Prime Video 3 Virtual Presscon, the Surinamese-Dutch striker said:

“I’m not going to underestimate him. Every fight in ONE Championship is big. Sinsamut is a new challenge. He KO’d his last two opponents. He’s very dangerous.”

Regian Eersel hasn’t faced an opponent as versatile and unpredictable as Sinsamut ‘Aquaman’ Klinmee. As a relatively new fighter at ONE Championship, the Thai native has succeeded in setting himself apart from the crowd.

Scoring back-back knockouts against top fighters in the division and collecting a total of $100,000 in bonuses to boot, the 26-year-old is nothing short of inspirational.

There hasn’t been any room for error when Sinsamut is in the ring, but Eersel hopes he can be the first to reveal those holes. Undefeated with a 7-fight winning streak in the promotion, the kickboxing veteran will need to drag Sinsamut into deep waters in order to prevent a first-round KO.

If he can pick him apart from the outside, use his range and tire him out, Eersel may be able to pull-off a decision-win.

Ultimately, the threat of being knocked out will always be present, whether you’re in the third or fourth round, and Eersel knows this, which makes their eventual battle at ONE 162 even more thrilling.

Regian Eersel explains why he accepted fighting for the Muay Thai world title

Becoming a double champion isn’t the only reason why Regian Eersel accepted a Muay Thai world title fight with Sinsamut Klinmee.

Eersel has had combat experience in Muay Thai before making his ONE Championship debut in kickboxing back in 2019. After dominating his division with seven straight wins over the last couple of years, ‘The Immortal’ is happy to revisit fighting under the Muay Thai rule set for the challenges it presents.

Speaking to Timothy Wheaton from Beyond Kick, Regian Eersel was asked if moving to Muay Thai was a result of having nearly cleared out the kickboxing division, the 29-year-old striker responded:

“Nope. I’m moving to Muay Thai because it’s a new challenge for me. I got the opportunity from ONE Championship to fight for the vacant Muay Thai World title and I immediately said yes. I like challenges, life is a challenge.”
