'The Dutch Knight' Reinier de Ridder has put together an incredible legacy in ONE Championship. The fighter sports an unbeaten record and currently holds the ONE middleweight and light heavyweight world championships. He will be facing the ONE interim heavyweight world champion, Anatoly Malykhin, at ONE on Prime Video 5.

In a recent interview with The MMA Superfan, Reinier de Ridder explained the factors that have led to his tremendous success in the ONE circle:

"That's a good question. I've been wondering about this myself. I've learned this myself, every once in a while, but I think it's everything together. It's not just one thing, but everything I do. I prepare mentally and physically. I have the best guys around me. I train hard year-round. I never take a day off. I guess all of the above."

Reinier de Ridder looking to submit Anatoly Malykhin

Two-division world champion Reinier de Ridder has won the vast majority of his fights by way of submission as his opponents are unable to handle his incredible grappling skills on the ground. In an interview with ONE Championship, De Ridder explained that Malykhin will also lose via submission:

“I think I can hit him with some good stuff because I’m more rangy. I think I can get in his face and hit him with some good jabs and with some good kicks. Clinch him, take him down. I see me controlling him on the floor, hitting him with some elbows, hitting him with some knees. And I see myself choking him out at the end of the first.”

Though he will be aiming for a submission finish in the first round, De Ridder sees the first few moments of the bout as being dangerous and vital for victory. 'The Dutch Knight' continued:

“The first two minutes are very important in this fight because he’s going to come out strong, he’s going to try and press forward. And I’m going to come out strong, I’m going to be in the middle of the circle. You’ll see me dominant from the first second. So in those first few seconds, those are going to be very explosive and very, very, very important.”
