Reinier de Ridder was seen working with John Danaher and Gordon Ryan.
‘The Dutch Knight’ last fought in December 2022, losing in devastating fashion against Anatoly Malykhin. Although he still holds the middleweight world championship, De Ridder is looking to evolve his skillsets before returning to MMA action.
The 32-year-old has sought the help of Ryan, a BJJ legend, and Danaher, a coaching genius. He posted highlights of his trip on Instagram with the caption:
“Huge thanks to these two guys and everyone at new wave. It is still unreal to be able to learn from them. I will be implementing everything I learned in the coming months and I have retribution on my mind so get ready for RdR 2.0. I basically trained, ate and slept but if you have time here are some pictures and video's of my experience. I am at the airport right now and it is so good to be heading home. I will not let go of my kids for 2 days.❤️Have a good one!”

De Ridder made his ONE debut in January 2019. He rattled off seven consecutive wins, becoming a two-division world champion in the middleweight and light heavyweight divisions. ‘The Dutch Knight’ seemed unbeatable until Malykhin, the interim heavyweight champion, showcased his vicious power at ONE on Prime Video 5.

What’s next for Reinier de Ridder in ONE Championship?
Reinier de Ridder is one of the most dangerous grapplers in MMA. With that said, the harsh reality is that the loss he suffered against Anatoly Malykhin will take a few months to recover from. In the meantime, De Ridder is staying active by competing in submission grappling under the ONE Championship banner.
‘The Dutch Knight’ first competed in submission grappling against Andre Galvao in March 2022, ending in a draw. On May 5, De Ridder returns to the circle in a submission grappling match against Tye Ruotolo.
The middleweight world champion has recently revealed he’s interested in a grappling career after MMA, making his appearance at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video even more important.
