Conor McGregor has remained inactive from combat sports for more than three years after breaking his leg at UFC 264 in July 2021. The former double champ coached season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter opposite Michael Chandler, with the series ending in August 2023.

After plenty of delays, the pair finally appeared set to clash at UFC 303. However, the Irishman was forced to withdraw from the bout due to a pinky toe injury. 'Iron' recently decided to temporarily move on from the bout, and he will face Charles Oliveira at UFC 309.

Renato Moicano has ridiculed Chandler for waiting for a bout that failed to materialize. Speaking to Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting, the No.11-ranked lightweight stated:

"I'm surprised [Chandler] didn't continue waiting. This guy is too dumb, man. You're raising a bet that has everything to go wrong. McGregor is MMA's biggest troll right now. He has no incentive to fight. What's the incentive for Conor McGregor to fight? He makes more money outside of fighting. His purse is nothing compared to what this guy makes with his business."

Moicano continued:

"Right now, he's using the UFC more like a marketing agency because everybody talks about him when he says he's going to fight, and he's done it again and again. I was surprised that Chandler gave up on waiting because he's spent so much time... I think he was so invested on this fight that it was hard for him to pull out, but he saw it was for the best." David Feldman believes Conor McGregor will fight in BKFC

Conor McGregor became a part-owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship in April. David Feldman recently shared that he believes 'The Notorious' could compete in the promotion at some point. Speaking to Damon Martin of MMA Fighting, the BKFC president and founder stated:

"The UFC doesn't need us. Like, they don't need us. We need a co-pro with them. They don't need a co-pro with us, which would be phenomenal. They're not going to do it. They're not going to do it. If they do Conor McGregor in anything, they don't have to do a co-pro with us, but that being said, I mean, unless he's the best salesman in the world, because the talks that we've had, he's like, 'I'm fighting here'."

He continued:

"I'm like, 'yeah, okay'. He's like, 'I'm fighting here. I'm fighting here'. And then I go, 'well, why wouldn't you fight here because you have equity in the company and if you fight here, you'll probably make more money here than anywhere else in the world because of what it's going to do for the company'. So, I truly believe what you said. I think 100% he fights here."

McGregor has two fights remaining on his UFC contract. While he has become a part-owner in BKFC in his time away from the octagon, it is unlikely that the promotion would allow their biggest star to fight elsewhere.
