ONE Championship Vice President Rich Franklin has great faith in the promotion as one of two of the biggest martial arts companies in the world, right next to the UFC.
However, the former UFC middleweight champion believes that ONE Championship is the superior product, especially regarding its rules and judging criteria.
During a guest appearance on Mighty Cast with MMA legend and former ONE flyweight king 'Mighty Mouse' Demetrious Johnson, Franklin said that ONE's judging is better than the 10-point must system because fighters can't steal rounds.

"We use a different judging and scoring criteria from everybody else. We don’t judge round by round, we don’t use that 10-point must system in MMA. We basically look at a fight in its entirety and use one whole round to judge it. So at the end of round one, when minute five is over, and round two starts and minute six begins, it’s just the sixth minute of the fight and you continue judging. There is no stealing rounds."
ONE Championship's robust approach to scoring fights has proven instrumental in producing the organization's insanely high finishing rate as categories such as damage and near-finish are scored the highest.
Rich Franklin champions ONE's weight and hydration protocols which he helped develop
One of the most important differences in ONE Championship's approach to martial arts competition is how athletes weigh in for their fights. They come in at their natural weight class and are fully hydrated.
It's a policy that Rich Franklin himself helped develop.
He told Mighty Cast:
"A part of the reason why ONE Championship implemented this is because when it comes to concussion protocols when you dehydrate the body, the last place that rehydrates is the brain cavity. It’s one of the last places that rehydrates. So when you deplete fluid, like when you’re depleting fluid from everywhere which means you have a reduced amount of fluid in your brain."
