Robert Whittaker recently opened up about his win over Ikram Aliskerov at UFC Saudi Arabia this past Saturday and noted that he believes Khamzat Chimaev would have suffered the same fate. There was plenty of debate on social media on what would have transpired if the former middleweight champion had fought 'Borz' instead.
'The Reaper' was originally scheduled to fight 'Borz' in the main event, but an illness forced the Russian off the card and resulted in Aliskerov stepping in on short notice. The former UFC middleweight champion had an excellent performance as he earned a dominant first-round knockout as well as a Performance of the Night bonus.
During his appearance on today's episode of The MMA Hour, the 33-year-old discussed what he believes would have transpired had he fought 'Borz' instead. Whittaker mentioned that he felt great on Saturday and is confident that he would have dominated Chimaev just as easy as he did Aliskerov. He said:

"I was pretty primed and ready [on Saturday]. Like, I am 99% sure I would have starched Khamzat [Chimaev] as well. And our path may cross one day in the division, you know, as guys in the top of the game but he dodged a bullet that night."

Robert Whittaker laughs off Khamzat Chimaev's message toward him
Robert Whittaker recently laughed off Khamzat Chimaev's message toward him after he defeated Ikram Aliskerov in the main event of UFC Saudi Arabia this past weekend.
While speaking to From The Stands, the former middleweight champion was asked about Chimaev informing him that he would be seeing him soon, which implied that he is hopeful the UFC will reschedule their original bout. Whittaker laughed off the message and took a jibe at 'Borz' for being unable to follow through. He said:
"I will say, 'See you soon', it's like, where? You [Chimaev] can't get into any country. Where you gonna see me, bro? When I'm in the area, right?"
