Robert Whittaker recently weighed in on the upcoming UFC heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane, who will headline UFC 285 on March 4.
The long-awaited arrival of Jones at the UFC heavyweight doorstep is set to take place soon. It will see 'Bones' head into a fight as an underdog for the first time since 2009.
But Jones' underdog status has not affected Robert Whittaker's choice in prediction, as he stated that the former two-time UFC light heavyweight champion will take Gane down and finish him there.
During an interview with mainevent, 'The Reaper' said the following:

"Jon Jones is gonna take [Gane] down and just lay on him and finish him there. Jones' wrestling is next calibre. Nobody comes close to what Jon Jones can produce in the octagon, this is my opinion. If you look at his statistics, he can take people down and grapple with ease, strike with the best of them, he's got cardio and strength... And Jones probably has the highest IQ in the game. He'll see a weakness and he'll exploit it."

The fantasy matchup between Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou appears to be a thing of the past following Ngannou's release from the UFC. After a long contract negotiation, 'The Predator' and the promotion were unable to reach an agreement over terms.
Ngannou is now a free agent and the UFC heavyweight title is vacant, leaving Jones the perfect opportunity to become a UFC double champion.
Robert Whittaker believes Alex Pereira is a better matchup than Israel Adesanya
Following the conclusion of UFC 281, where the UFC middleweight title changed hands, many wondered how the dynamics of the division would change.
Adesanya had begun running laps around his competition, having beaten several top contenders such as Robert Whittaker more than once. But the injection of Pereira into the system appears to have shaken up the 185-pound division, with many contenders eyeing a potential fight with 'Poatan'.
Whittaker recently reacted to Pereira's victory over Adesanya and previewed what the Brazilian's win could mean for his future. 'The Reaper' discussed a potential fight with 'Poatan', claiming he would be an easier matchup than Adesanya:
"I think stylistically [Pereira] is a better matchup for me. He's much more straight, doesn't lean back or fade away as well as Izzy does. Izzy's a much more defensive striker. I think technically it's a much better fight for me."
