Former UFC middleweight king Robert Whittaker has revealed that he is targeting a return to the octagon in June 2025. The Australian was previously submitted by Khamzat Chimaev in the first round at UFC 308.

Chimaev trapped Whittaker with a rear-naked choke cum face crank, which resulted in 'The Reaper' tapping super quick. The No. 4 ranked middleweight suffered a dental injury during his fight with the Chechen phenom.

While fight fans thought that 'Borz' had broken Whittaker's jaw, it was later revealed that this jaw was not broken. However, his teeth were pushed inwards and dental surgery was required to fix the condition.

Recently, 'The Reaper' appeared in an interview with Niko Pajarillo, in which he addressed the aforementioned injury and also spoke about his much-awaited return. He said:

"Yeah, the jaw was fine. There was never a jaw problem. It was a teeth problem and I was fortunate enough. UFC hooked me up with a great surgeon… I was back at training quite quickly. I’ve been training for a while now. I was training obviously. I've been training here with the boys a little bit but honestly."

Commented on his return, Whittaker added:

"I’m working on some new skillset. I’ve got some new things that I’m working on at the beginning of this year you know. In the coming months, I want to focus on those and I’m probably looking for a June return you know. I want to hit the ground running perfect… when I step back in the octagon again after a loss you see me level up.”
