Robert Whittaker and Israel Adesanya seem like they are through being competitive rivals since they recently became training partners. In an interview with Fox Sports, Whittaker frankly stated he wouldn't have seen this training dynamic happening in a hundred years.
A lack of bodies in training, the proximity of City Kickboxing to him, and the chance to return to his birthplace created a surge of momentum that led to the two former adversaries squashing their beef.
When asked if fans can rule out the idea that we'll see a third bout between the pair of former UFC middleweight champions during a recent interview with mainevent, Robert Whittaker said:
"Yeah, I think we can close that door. I don't think the chances were high just because of where we're both situated in our careers and just the division as a whole. But yeah, no that door is shut. I don't fight people I eat with."

Robert Whittaker and the two Israel Adesanya bouts
Robert Whittaker and Israel Adesanya have documented history with one another in the form of some of the most high-profile middleweight title fights in the UFC over the last few years.
The two first were locked into a cage with one another in October 2019. Heading into their initial fight, Whittaker was the middleweight titleholder with a hungry Adesanya seeking his first taste of undisputed gold in the promotion.
A call of 'and new' would ring out in the arena that night following Adesanya finishing Whittaker with a left hook in the second round of the UFC 243 main event.
The 34-year-old would have his sequel clash with Adesanya close to two and a half years later after putting together a winning streak against the likes of Darren Till, Jared Cannonier, and Kelvin Gastelum.
This time, the roles were switched up, with Whittaker in the role of challenger, while Adesanya was trying to maintain his 185-pound throne.
The native of New Zealand would not get finished inside the distance this time but it was still a losing effort all the same. Israel Adesanya retained his belt by way of a unanimous decision and went 2-0 over Robert Whittaker when the dust settled from their rematch at UFC 271 in February 2022.
