Rodtang Jitmuangnon has become the biggest star in ONE Championship’s striking rulesets thanks to two things: his exciting style and his dominant run of performances.

The flyweight Muay Thai king has looked unstoppable in recent years and he’s managed to do it all whilst putting on a great show for the fans.

For his next challenge at ONE Fight Night 8 on March 24, ‘The Iron Man’ knows that he must enter the circle with a more reserved approach. In the main event, he will attempt to become a two-sport world champion by challenging for Superlek Kiatmoo9’s flyweight kickboxing title.

In a recent interview with ONE Championship, Rodtang spoke about how the change in rulesets will change his approach for this fight compared to his recent performances:

“We have to wait and see. I can’t reveal anything that much. Because we are fighting in kickboxing rules that focus on scoring from clean shots. If I show my aggression and open up my face too much, I will be easily attacked and lose points.”

He added:

“However, this is a title match, and I will feel very guilty if I give our fans a boring match. Just wait for it. Maybe I’m lucky enough to knock him down first. And then, it’s showtime.”

Rodtang Jitmuangnon says fight with Superlek has been years in the making

The upcoming main event of ONE Fight Night 8 on March 24 between Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Superlek Kiatmoo9 is a superfight of the highest stature.

ONE’s dominant flyweight Muay Thai king will attempt to become a two-sport world champion by taking on ‘The Kicking Machine’ in the first defense of his recently acquired kicking title.

Whilst both men have gone down different routes in ONE Championship, ‘The Iron Man’ recently revealed that he knew it would only be a matter of time before he was standing across from his upcoming opponent inside the circle.

Since both men arrived in ONE Championship, fans have been eagerly anticipating a showdown between the two Thai stars. Many hoped that it would finally come to fruition last year in the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix, but Rodtang was forced to withdraw from the tournament.

In a recent interview with ONE Championship, ‘The Iron Man’ spoke about his long-running history with the kickboxing world champion:

“There has always been a lot of hype about our matchup for a long time. The fans were hyped when I first joined ONE Championship or even before I fought in Thailand at Rajadamnern or Lumpinee Stadium.”

He added:

“Everyone wanted to watch me lock horns with Superlek. But don’t get me wrong. Running away from him is the last thing on my mind. When both of us were competing in Thailand, we had no chance to face each other because we fought in different divisions. And, in my division alone, I had many opponents to fight with -- for example, Seksan, Yodlekpetch, among many others. So, our paths were never aligned until now.”
