Rodtang Jitmuangnon believes that Joseph Lasiri’s downfall at ONE on Prime Video 4 was a result of his own misguided confidence.
After starting 0-4 inside the circle, Lasiri turned things around in an impressive way, rattling off three straight victories, including a strawweight Muay Thai world title win over Prajanchai PK.Saenchai at ONE 157. That success led him to perhaps the best Muay Thai fighter in the world today, Rodtang.
Throughout their five-round scrap, Rodtang Jitmuangnon showed complete dominance, stifling Lasiri’s offense and mocking his lack of output every step of the way. Following the contest, ‘The Iron Man’ spoke to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), saying:
“Joseph could speak but could not fight. I think Lasiri was overconfident from his win over Prajanchai last time. The only thing that was a mistake last time was that Prajanchai had a cut in his eyebrow, so that was the thing - he couldn’t see. That’s why Lasiri got his world title last time. That’s why he was overconfident that he could win over me tonight as well, but I think he’s still just a talker to me.”

With his emphatic win over Joseph Lasiri, Rodtang will look ahead to his next opponent, likely to be the winner of the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix final between Superlek Kiatmoo9 and Panpayak Jitmuangnon. The tournament final is set to take place on December 3 at ONE 164.

ONE Championship CEO disappointed with Joseph Lasiri’s performance against Rodtang Jitmuangnon
Rodtang Jitmuangnon was not the only person disappointed with Joseph Lasiri’s performance at ONE on Prime Video 4, particularly after talking a pretty big game ahead of the Muay Thai showdown.
ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong shared his thoughts on the fight during his appearance at the post-fight press conference:
"Lasiri talked a big game, I was kind of disappointed. If you want the belt, you got to fight. I mean, I think Rodtang made a little bit of fun of Lasiri but I was very disappointed with Lasiri. That's not how a champion should be."
It’s clear that Joseph Lasiri didn’t do himself any favors challenging ‘The Iron Man’ last Friday night. With the loss to Rodtang, it’s expected that ‘The Hurricane’ will return to the strawweight division to defend his own ONE world championship.
Who meets him inside the circle next is anyone’s guess, but after his performance last Friday night, he will likely have something to prove.
