ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion and arguably the most popular Muay Thai fighter alive today, Rodtang Jitmuangnon continues his dominant reign atop his division at ONE on Prime Video 4. Against ONE strawweight Muay Thai king Joseph 'The Hurricane' Lasiri, 'The Iron Man' proved that he is levels above everyone else inside the circle.

Rodtang's frightening ferocity, insane toughness, and underrated fight IQ are second to none, as some of the very best kickboxers on the planet failed to solve his puzzle. In his post-fight media interview at ONE on Prime Video 4, Rodtang Jitmuangnon gave an interesting insight into his mindset every time he enters a fight:

"As the experienced athlete that I am, mostly the thing that happens in the ring is coming out of the strategy and what happens in the ring itself. I mean, I have trained so hard in camp before the fight, of course. Every fight, before I train I give my best every time, but then everything depends on what happens in the ring itself."

Rodtang Jitmuangnon explains his basic strategy in a fight

By watching him fight with unstoppable aggression, one would think that Rodtang Jitmuangnon employs a one-track mindset which means only moving forward and flattening his opponent. Apparently, it's more nuanced than that. Having been a seasoned fighter at just 25 years old, 'The Iron Man' already has 269 wins under his belt. This man knows more about fighting than ten pro fighters in their entire careers combined.

Further expounding on his mindset and strategy in every fight, Rodtang said:

"For example, if the opponent is coming with his clench or his punches or his elbow, I have to come up with something immediately in the ring to counter that. So that is what happens all the time in a fight."

Fighters often have a predetermined outcome in their heads as to what should happen in a match. Though there is nothing wrong with this, it would be a mistake to ignore what their opponent is doing. One must approach a fight with an open mind in order to collect data that he can use to impose his own game.

Rodtang Jitmuangnon knows when and how to pull the trigger depending on what his opponents give him. We often miss this part of him as we frequently get caught up in his dazzling displays of aggression and violence. The ONE flyweight Muay Thai king is quite the cerebral assassin too. He is not just a fighter to be feared and admired, he should be extensively studied as well.
