Rodtang Jitmuangnon has announced his goal of becoming a ONE Championship kickboxing world champion.
‘The Iron Man’ is running out of challenges in Muay Thai after establishing a 10-0 record with ONE. Rodtang’s next challenger comes from the strawweight division, as Joseph Lasiri looks to become a two-division champion by pulling off a massive upset. While speaking with ONE, the Jitmuangnon Gym fighter had this to say about his upcoming fight at ONE on Prime Video 4 and what’s next with a win:
“He had already lost to many people in the flyweight division before. So, I think it is his determination to challenge himself to win in this division. Like, if you lose to one opponent every time, then you definitely want to beat that guy someday. I understand his feelings. Everyone has their own goal. I, myself, also have my greater challenge waiting for me. After I defend my gold this time, I'm planning to challenge for the kickboxing gold.”
Rodtang has a promotional record of 1-0 in kickboxing, with a win against Tagir Khalilov in February 2021. Before thinking about going for kickboxing gold, ‘The Iron Man’ can’t underestimate Lasiri, who became the strawweight Muay Thai champion after a shocking win against Prajanchai PK. Saenchai. ‘The Hurricane’ was 0-4 in ONE before winning three consecutive fights to become the strawweight king.
