‘The Iron Man’ Rodtang Jitmuangnon never believed he could ever garner a huge following from a country that wasn’t located in Asia.

Last Friday, American fans were treated to another Rodtang clash. The Muay Thai king successfully resumed where he left off under the kickboxing ruleset with a lop-sided performance against Chinese kickboxer Jiduo Yibu at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video.

While most fighters are intimidated to brawl with the 25-year-old slugger, Yibu unexpectedly helped Rodtang put on a show for the cheering masses. Refusing to give in to Rodtang’s mind-games and bragging antics, Yibu stuck to his game plan by responding with some good strikes of his own.

But as predicted, ‘The Iron Man’ fearlessly walked through them all without a flinch, causing the fans in the stadium to cheer uproariously for their fellow countryman.

With his second US primetime appearance in the bag, Rodtang’s popularity has skyrocketed to unprecedented levels.

Speaking to the media in the post-fight interview, the Phatthalung native was humbled when he learned that he had a huge American following.

In response to that dramatic revelation, Rodtang said:

“I consider myself a normal fighter. I would like to thank everyone for considering me as one of the best fighters or the best ones out there. I just want to do the best that I can in every fight.”

Rodtang Jitmuangnon is happy ONE is supporting the development of Muay Thai in Thailand

Rodtang Jitmuangnon is delighted to hear that ONE Championship will be hosting events every week at the famed Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok.

Last year, ONE CEO and Chairman Chatri Sityodtong announced its ground-breaking partnership with the Royal Thai Army, to expand its national sport at a global scale.

The first major event, ONE Lumpinee 1, launches this month on January 20, with Thai superstar Nong-O Gaiyanghadao and Alaverdi Ramazanov headlining its debut.

Many Muay Thai strikers on the ONE roster, including ‘The Iron Man,’ agree that this is a major milestone for the people of Thailand as well as their up-and-coming athletes.

Speaking to SCMP MMA, he said:

“I’m very happy that ONE Lumpinee is hosting events in Thailand. Thai boxers lack a lot of support. It’s not like the Olympics, where [athletes get] a lot of support from the government. Thai boxers just have to go out there and fight to get support. They want opportunities to go to bigger stages. These events will provide them with a chance to step up and improve their skills, and also prepare them for the world stage.”
