Whenever one thinks of Rodtang Jitmuangnon, the immediate thought would be an unrelenting striker who goes full steam ahead during his fights. That style, however, could be a thing of the past.
The ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion admitted in an interview with ONE Championship that he’s slowly shifting his style to better match up against his opponents.
Rodtang was as entertaining as ever in his last bout against China's Jiduo Yibu, but he could change things up when he challenges Superlek Kiatmoo9 for the ONE flyweight kickboxing world title at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video.

The 25-year-old said:
“I think that’s because I have more experience. I’ve fought a lot, and I love to study my opponents ahead of time. So, no matter what my opponent will bring to me, I can adjust my game plan according to the situation. If they charge at me aggressively, I can’t fight them back with brute force. I have to switch my style to be more of a technician. Or if my opponent tries to walk away from me, I will use my aggressive mode and chase him. The trick is to read your opponent first.”
Rodtang Jitmuangnon holds a perfect 13-0 record in his striking matches in ONE Championship but his fight against Superlek might just be the toughest in his tenure yet.
The highly anticipated matchup between the two Thai stars goes down on March 24, US primetime, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The entire ONE Fight Night 8 card will be available live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
Superlek believes Rodtang Jitmuangnon’s emotions could play a part in their fight
Shifting his mentality might just do Rodtang Jitmuangnon a few benefits at ONE Fight Night 8, as his opponent pointed out.
Superlek, who has a total of 132 wins under his belt, said emotions usually play a part in Rodtang’s performance during fights.
‘The Kicking Machine’ told ONE Championship in an interview that ‘The Iron Man’ would put on a subpar performance whenever he gets frustrated during bouts.
“His weakness is his emotions, and emotions somehow affect his performance. His attacks get weaker when he gets upset."
