Rodtang Jitmuangnon expects a close contest at ONE Fight Night 8

ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon is no stranger to high-stakes matchups inside the circle. With a dominant run in ONE Championship, ‘The Iron Man’ has established himself as one of the most ferocious competitors in the world.

At ONE Fight Night 8 on March 24, he will attempt to become a two-sport world champion when he challenges Superlek Kiatmoo9 for the flyweight kickboxing crown.

In this main event superfight clash, the challenger is well aware of how small the margins of victory or defeat could be. Whilst Rodtang may be the fighter with the more impressive streak inside the circle, ‘The Kicking Machine’ is not an opponent that can be taken lightly.

In a recent interview with ONE Championship, ‘The Iron Man’ spoke about how easily the fight could be won or lost on Friday night:

“It depends on what happens in the ring, if he makes a mistake, I’ll get him. But on the other hand, if I make a mistake, he can bring me down, too. But I will do my best.”

Live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium, fans are in for a treat on March 24. Either Superlek will be able to break his challenger’s incredible run of dominance or ‘The Iron Man’ will add another huge achievement to his career by becoming a two-sport titleholder.

Rodtang Jitmuangnon says fight with Superlek has been years in the making

At ONE Fight Night 8, elite Thai strikers Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Superlek Kiatmoo9 will finally face off against one another, live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium on March 24.

Despite their different paths to get to this point, both fighters and fans alike have had their eyes on this as a potential matchup after both men signed to ONE Championship.

At ONE Fight Night 8, fans will finally get treated to this superfight that takes place under the kickboxing ruleset, with ‘The Kicking Machine’ looking to make the first defense of his recently acquired world championship.

Many fans hoped to see the matchup thanks to both fighters being involved in the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix last year. After being drawn on opposite sides of the bracket, Rodtang withdrew from the tournament, meaning fans would have to wait a little longer.

In a recent interview with ONE Championship, Rodtang spoke about how he and his upcoming opponent's names have gone hand-in-hand for sometime:

“There has always been a lot of hype about our matchup for a long time. The fans were hyped when I first joined ONE Championship or even before I fought in Thailand at Rajadamnern or Lumpinee Stadium.”

‘The Iron Man’ continued:

“Everyone wanted to watch me lock horns with Superlek. But don’t get me wrong. Running away from him is the last thing on my mind. When both of us were competing in Thailand, we had no chance to face each other because we fought in different divisions. And, in my division alone, I had many opponents to fight with -- for example, Seksan, Yodlekpetch, among many others. So, our paths were never aligned until now.”

Their main event pairing, as well as the rest of the stacked ONE Fight Night 8 card, will be broadcast live and for free on Prime Video for Amazon subscribers across North America.
