Although sometimes leg kicks don’t look painful on television, it only takes a few to cripple an opponent temporarily. Casual MMA fans are starting to become educated on how dangerous leg kicks can be. The damage can range from temporary debilitation to surgery being needed for torn ligaments. When ONE Championship posted the highlight reel of leg strikes, plenty of fans reacted in the comment section.

Tawanchai PK Saenchai is a perfect example of how dangerous leg kicks can be when executed correctly. He defended his featherweight Muay Thai world championship against Jamal Yusupov with a leg strike that ended the bout in 49 seconds.
Meanwhile, Rodtang Jitmuangnon utilizes leg kicks to break down his opponents and leave them unable to keep up with his speed. Needless to say, the evolution of leg strikes could be in its early stages.
