“Rodtang is waiting to bait you in” - Jacob Smith says cut over eye threw him off his game against ‘The Iron Man’

British Muay Thai sensation and former ONE world title challenger Jacob Smith of the United Kingdom admits getting busted open by former flyweight Muay Thai king 'The Iron Man' Rodtang Jitmuangnon in their fiery clash at ONE 169 on Prime Video earlier this month threw him off his game.

The 32-year-old Smith and Rodtang locked horns at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. 'Reug Reug' on Prime Video this past Nov. 8. With Rodtang losing the flyweight Muay Thai gold on the scales, only Smith was eligible to win it.

Unfortunately for the Englishman, he was unable to mount any significant amount of offense, and ultimately feel by five-round unanimous decision.

In the third round, a sharp elbow from Rodtang opened up a cut above Smith's right eye, causing a massive waterfall of blood to flow down his face. Smith admitted this had him scrambling in a panic, as he tried to regain composure in the midst of another savage beatdown.

Speaking to the Bangkok Post in a recent interview, Smith detailed the ordeal and what was going through his mind in the moment.

The Bad Company/Thaifist product said:

"The cut on my eye was hard for me to fight the way I needed to and protect at the same time, as well as knowing Rodtang is waiting to bait you in, to step in to punch when he’s looking to elbow."

The United Kingdom's Jacob Smith says he knew what he had to do against 'The Iron Man' Rodtang Jitmuangnon, it was just hard to execute because every time he tried, he was always met with heavy resistance.

The 32-year-old Englishman told Bangkok Post:

"It’s just one of those things. I knew what I needed to do but at the same time, it’s hard to take risks."
