ONE’s dominant flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon is already one of the biggest stars in combat sports.

Thanks to his dominant run in ONE Championship and his tendency to put on great fights for the fans, ‘The Iron Man’ has transcended the sport of Muay Thai. Despite this, he is keen to give back to the sport that he made his name in by getting more people interested in the art of eight limbs.

In his next contest at ONE Fight Night 8 on March 24, ‘The Iron Man’ will attempt to become a two-sport world champion when he challenges Superlek Kiatmoo9 for the flyweight kickboxing title.

In a recent interview with ONE Championship, Rodtang spoke about having the support of the fans behind him. He urged them to support fighters win or lose. He said:

“To all Thai fans, please watch my match with Superkek. It's a kickboxing world title match on March 25th in Singapore. I would like everyone to tune to Channel 7 HD. No matter the result [of this fight], whether I win or lose, no matter who will be the champion, I want everyone to love Muay Thai more. And I want all of you to support Thai fighters who fight on the global stage. Don’t bully them on the day they lose. Don’t mock them for their setbacks. Please encourage them instead. Your words mean a lot to us all.”

Rodtang Jitmuangnon says experience has made him a better fighter

Whilst Rodtang Jitmuangnon may be known for his ferocious fighting style that has made him one of the most entertaining fighters on the planet, the flyweight Muay Thai king says that he has made adjustments in recent times.

In a recent interview with ONE Championship, ‘The Iron Man’ revealed that he has started to change the way he approaches fights based on the style of his opponents.

Whilst he always steps inside the circle with the intention of putting on a show for the fans, he knows that he cannot always throw caution to the wind.

In his upcoming fight at ONE Fight Night 8 on March 24, Rodtang will challenge for the flyweight kickboxing world championship against its new holder Superlek Kiatmoo9.

Whilst he is undefeated in striking contests under the ONE banner, Rodtang is aware of the dangers in approaching each fight with the intention of bullying his opponent. He said:

“I think that’s because I have more experience. I’ve fought a lot, and I love to study my opponents ahead of time. So, no matter what my opponent will bring to me, I can adjust my game plan according to the situation. If they charge at me aggressively, I can’t fight them back with brute force. I have to switch my style to be more of a technician. Or if my opponent tries to walk away from me, I will use my aggressive mode and chase him. The trick is to read your opponent first.”

At ONE Fight Night 8 on March 24, live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium, he will need to show that he can be a technician in order to dethrone Superlek. The entire event, including the main event superfight, will air live and for free via Prime Video for North American viewers.
