The UFC is set to return to Canada for the first time since 2019, with a stacked card headlined by former strawweight champion Rose Namajunas. The event, UFC Edmonton, is scheduled for Nov. 2 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta.

Namajunas will face off against fellow flyweight contender Erin Blanchfield. Both fighters aim to solidify their positions as top contenders in the division and earn a potential title shot.

The co-main event will feature a heavyweight clash between knockout artist Derrick Lewis and surging prospect Alexandr Romanov. Lewis, known for his explosive power, will look to extend his knockout streak, while Romanov aims to rebound from a recent setback and solidify his position in the division.

The card also includes a flyweight matchup between Ariane Da Silva and Canadian Jasmine Jasudavicius and a middleweight bout pitting Marc-Andre Barriault against Dustin Stoltzfus. Adding to the Canadian flavor, Jamey-Lyn Horth will face Ivana Petrovic and recent TUF finalist Cody Gibson returns to action against Chad Anheliger.

Rose Namajunas sets sights on two-division glory

Former strawweight champion Rose Namajunas is looking to add another chapter to her already impressive UFC career. The 32-year-old has announced her intention to capture the flyweight title and become a two-division champion.

Namajunas, known for her dynamic fighting style and mental fortitude, has already etched her name in the UFC history books with two victories over former dominant champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. However, after losing her strawweight belt to Carla Esparza, she decided to move up to the flyweight division.

With a 2-1 record at 125 pounds, Namajunas is steadily climbing the ranks and appears to be on the cusp of a title shot. In a recent interview, she explained her motivation for pursuing a second championship:

"I already beat [Zhang] Weili twice. And then, I lost my belt to Carla [Esparza]...I always had a goal to become two-division champion as well and I feel like I'm at the right amount of time to be able to do that. And I knew it wasn't just going to be like, super easy to go right in there right away. It was going to take some time to build up that momentum. I'm at the perfect age right now where I have that time and yeah, here we are."
