Rose Namajunas recently opened up about her decision to commit to a move up to 125 pounds and expressed interest in becoming a two-division UFC champion. The two-time strawweight champion believes now is the right time to set her sights on the flyweight championship.

'Thug Rose' is considered by many as one of the greatest strawweights in UFC history, especially considering she ended Joanna Jedrzejczyk's dominant title reign and has two wins over reigning champion Zhang Weili. After losing her title to Carla Esparza at UFC 274, the 32-year-old decided to move up to flyweight and has since gone 2-1 and is closing in on a potential title shot.

During her appearance on Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson's JAXXON PODCAST, the former strawweight champion explained her decision and noted that she had already accomplished everything at 115 pounds. Namajunas mentioned that although it wouldn't be easy, it is the perfect moment in her career to pursue double champ status. She said:

"I already beat [Zhang] Weili twice. And then, I lost my belt to Carla [Esparza]...I always had a goal to become two-division champion as well and I feel like I'm at the right amount of time to be able to do that. And I knew it wasn't just going to be like, super easy to go right in there right away. It was going to take some time to build up that momentum. I'm at the perfect age right now where I have that time and yeah, here we are."

Rose Namajunas discusses idea of women's 'BMF' title

Rose Namajunas recently discussed the idea of a women's 'BMF' title and noted that although it would be great to compete for, it could halt her current plans.

During the aforementioned appearance, Namajunas mentioned that she has her sights set on the UFC flyweight championship and added that she believes fighting for a 'BMF' title would make attaining double champ status more difficult. She said:

"[Having a women's 'BMF' title] would be kind of cool. I'm probably not ready for it right this second, but I think it could happen. I want to become two-division champ...That's the only problem with the 'BMF' [title], because I feel like it comes with a certain type of aura to it. I just feel like it would derail my course to becoming a two-division champion...It'd be a lot harder to do."
