Khabib Nurmagomedov has received criticism from the Irish MMA community, including Conor McGregor, for comments on their lack of talent in combat sports. However, Nurmagomedov appears to have a soft heart for Ireland, as he recently echoed the country's stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Nurmagomedov took to his Instagram story, which has since been removed, and shared a social media post by @khaledbeydoun, who claimed that Ireland supported Gaza in its conflict with Israel. After that, a user going by the handle @AIKYGDLT posted 'The Eagle's' deleted story on X.
As for McGregor, he wasn't pleased with Nurmagomedov's previous remarks about Irish MMA. Before his cousin Usman Nurmagomedov's Bellator lightweight title bout against Paul Hughes on Jan. 25, the Russian said in an interview with PFL that Ireland lacked talent and that only 'The Notorious' and Hughes were known fighters from the country, saying:

“Brother, Ireland don’t have fighters, brother...How many fighters do you know from Ireland? Paul Hughes and Conor [McGregor]. And who else? There is no fighters, brother...Let’s be honest: Dagestan level of MMA here (raises arm high). But Ireland level, like not even half of Dagestan level.”

In response, McGregor attacked Nurmagomedov for his comments about Ireland having less MMA talent than Dagestan in a now-deleted X post, writing:
''And all yous a**e lickers around the way years stood on no ground for your own. Sickening stuff, look at yous now. You deserve exactly what’s there for yous, not a thing. Nothing. Traitorous b*ms. The Yellow teeth’s we call ya’s. Pea brains in a cage. Panache = zero. Creativity = poop. Wherewithal = fart. Embarrassing to me."
Khabib Nurmagomedov sings high praise for Usman Nurmagomedov
Khabib Nurmagomedov is expected to be in the corner of Usman Nurmagomedov for his title fight against Ireland's Paul Hughes on Jan. 25 in Dubai.
Ahead of the matchup, Nurmagomedov expressed his admiration for his cousin in his aforementioned interview with PFL, claiming that Usman has the potential to become one of the greats in the game, surpassing him.
He said:
''Very, very easy he can put his name in the top five greatest fighters of all-time. He's only 26, can you imagine after four years, when he becomes 30. [The] next seven [to] ten years, he can be on top very very easily. Can you imagine if he fights 15, 16, 17 more fights. I think he has [the] ability to be there."
