The stretch of woes continues for Ryan Garcia who has been dealt another major blow after being suspended for a year due to testing positive in his fight against Devin Haney.
Garcia's win over Haney was already under scrutiny considering that he missed weight by 3.2 pounds. In May, the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) confirmed that Garcia had tested positive for performance-enhancing drug Ostarine. The case was settled with the New York Athletic Commission which saw the 25-year-old being fined $ 1.1 million and suspended for a year.
Deepening the crisis for himself, Garcia publicly made some provocative racially charged comments on the popular IOS app called Clubhouse. He said:
"I hate n**gers, I’m anti-black, I’m the KKK. Hey, let’s go bring George Floyd back to life and go kill that n**ger again’… I can’t believe this is who ppl were dying on a hill for?"

The insensitive racial remarks didn't go down well in the boxing community leading to an expulsion from the World Boxing Council (WBC) by president Mauricio Sulaiman. He wrote on X:
"Exercising my authority as president of the WBC, I am hereby expelling Ryan Garcia from any activity with our organization. We reject any form of discrimination. I fear for Ryan well well-being as he has declined multiple attempts for our help with mental health and substance abuse."

Garcia was asked by the New York State Athletic Commission to undergo a mental health evaluation prior to his clash against Haney. Most recently, his family called for a police welfare check after he was arrested for damaging a room and hallway in the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills, California.
Former NBA legend warns Ryan Garcia to keep George Floyd's name out of his mouth
Ryan Garcia's social media meltdown sunk him into a pit of trouble, both from the boxing community and fans in general. The American dropped a bunch of insensitive slurs about both Black people and Muslims recently, which got him expelled from the World Boxing Council.
It was Garcia's comments about George Floyd in particular that wore on everyone's patience. Floyd was murdered by a white police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota which led to a worldwide furor in 2020.
Garcia's comments enraged former basketball player Stephen Jackson, who took to Instagram to advise the young boxer to seek help. He also warned Garcia in the video, stating:
"You’re a clout-chaser, that’s all you are. You’re looking for attention. You’re trying to live a life that you didn’t grow up in. You’re not that, Ryan. You’re a boxer. Stick to that, bro. Keep George Floyd’s name out of your mouth. If you hate n*****s and want to join the KKK, like you said on Clubhouse, go ahead. Just don’t f**k with us. And don’t expect us to f**k with you. People say the real s**t when they’re drunk. Facts!"
