Sage Northcutt admits it is "hard being away" from family while in training camp for next fight

American superstar Sage Northcutt admitted that it’s been difficult being away from his family while he trains full-time in California.

The Texas-born athlete makes his long-awaited comeback four years after suffering his first loss under the promotion to Cosmo Alexandre in May 2019. Looking for a fresh new start in men’s MMA, Northcutt has focused all of his time on becoming the best version of himself before fight night. To do that, he’s had to sacrifice a lot of family time to focus on his training camp.

Ahead of his fight on May 5, ‘Super’ Sage admitted that being away from his family has hit him the hardest. However, he is comforted by the knowledge that even though they are one plane ride away, he always feels their support.

The 26-year-old standout told The MMA Superfan:

“Right now I’m in Sacramento by myself so I came to Sacramento, flew out here, got my car out of here and just been training full time. So my family’s back home in Texas right now and I’ve just been focusing on going out there, performing my best."

He added:

"So that could always be hard being away from your family, being away from your loved ones obviously. But yeah, since I was a little kid, I had my family supporting me.”

Sage Northcutt gets back into the fold with a massive lightweight bout against ‘Wolverine’ Ahmed Mujtaba at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video. Northcutt’s last major appearance in the US was back in July 2018, so he’s super thrilled to fight again in front of a jam-packed stadium in Denver, Colorado.
