To say that Sage Northcutt is beyond pumped for his return fight on American soil is a massive understatement. The 26-year-old MMA star couldn’t hide his excitement while promoting ONE Fight Night 10: Johnson vs. Moraes III in a recent guest appearance on Great Day Colorado.
‘Super,’ after all, is one of the main attractions of the promotion’s historic on-site United States debut on May 5 at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado. He’ll be taking on the surging Ahmed Mujtaba in a lightweight match.
Northcutt expressed his excitement for the event by saying:

“So May 5th’s huge, it’s ONE Championship’s first US card. They signed a deal with Amazon Prime Video for a 12-fight deal every year. So one fight [card]eper month. So this is the first fight [card]nin the US for ONE Championship and I couldn’t be more excited to fight on it.”
After making a name for himself in North America, Sage Northcutt took his talents to one of the largest martial arts organizations in 2018. He made his highly-anticipated promotional debut against Cosmo Alexandre at ONE: Enter the Dragon. However, things didn’t go according to plan for the American, as he suffered his first career knockout loss in the opening round.
After recuperating from the injuries he sustained in that match, Northcutt put in a lot of work to further hone his skills and bounce back inside the circle. But several health scares once again derailed his plans, as the California native revealed a prolonged battle with the lingering effects of COVID and a scary experience dealing with blood clots.
Now fitter than ever, Northcutt wants to make up for lost time and make a run in ONE’s stacked lightweight division. ‘Super’ will certainly have his work cut out for him against Mujtaba, who has gone 4-2 in ONE Championship. ‘Wolverine’ has won his last two fights, including a submission victory via a beautiful triangle choke against Abraao Amorim in his last outing.
Sage Northcutt vows to put on a show at ONE Fight Night 10
Sage Northcutt is aware of the criticism he faced after the shocking knockout loss to Alexandre in his promotional debut. Instead of dwelling on what his detractors say, ‘Super’ said he will use this as motivation to showcase what he’s truly capable of at ONE Fight Night 10.
Sage Northcutt told ONE in an exclusive interview:
“Obviously [the goal is to] be successful out there and show ONE Championship that I’m able to go out there and perform, to meet the expectations of what they want. I want to go out there and put on a great performance.”
