After being away from competition for such a long time, it can be easy to forget how early in his career Sage Northcutt still is.
Despite spending some time away recovering from injuries and the effects of COVID-19, ‘Super’ Sage, surprisingly, is still just 26 years old. The martial arts prodigy rose to fame at a young age after competing in the UFC, leaving the promotion in 2018 to sign with ONE Championship.
He attracted a lot of attention at such a young age due to his looks, personality and credibility as a martial arts prodigy. In a recent interview with Great Day Colorado, Sage Northcutt spoke about his path into martial arts and how he stepped away from education in order to focus on his training.

“It is, it is. I was going to college. I was actually, I’m from Texas so I was training at Texas A&M, studying to become a petroleum engineer the same time I was starting professionally. And then I was like ‘I wanna make this a full time career and focus all my time. I can always go back to college later.”
In the time that he has been away from the sport, Northcutt has had a lot of time to think about his career. He’s prepared to come back rejuvenated at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video.

On his return to competition at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video, Sage Northcutt has one outcome in mind and that’s him finishing his opponent early on in the fight.
After almost four years away from the circle, Northcutt will face Ahmed Mujtaba on May 5 in just his second fight under the ONE Championship banner.
Whilst he has been gone for quite some time, the American is coming back at a great time to remind the fans what he is all about by fighting in front of the US fans in Broomfield, Colorado.
Live from the 1stBank Center, ONE Fight Night 10 will be the promotion’s first-ever event in the United States. So, there’s no better stage for ‘Super’ Sage to make his return.
In an interview with ONE Championship, the 26-year-old spoke about his anticipation to compete again and his desire to get his opponent out of there.
He said:
“Whether it’s a submission, whether it’s ground-and-pound, or it’s a knockout, whatever it is, everybody wants a finish. That would be the ideal way to win, but you know I’m training for any aspect out there, so that way I’m prepared.”
After healing from the injuries that he suffered in his ONE Championship debut and having to take time out due to COVID-19, ONE Fight Night 10 will be a homecoming in more ways than one for Sage Northcutt.
