Sage Northcutt looks to put on a show in return to ONE Championship action

Sage Northcutt knows the hype that has surrounded him since signing with ONE Championship. He’s ready to ride that wave of support and put on a great showing on his return after nearly four years out.

After taking some time to recover from the injuries he suffered in his May 2019 debut, Northcutt had a fight scheduled with Shinya Aoki. Unfortunately, that bout fell off due to him catching COVID-19.

At ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video, when the promotion hosts its debut event on U.S. soil, ‘Super’ Sage will return against Ahmed Mujtaba as he tries to put the past behind him.

Eager to make an impression on the fans who haven’t seen him compete and the ones who have been awaiting his comeback, Northcutt wants to put on a show in Broomfield, Colorado.

In an interview with ONE Championship, he spoke about his plans for May 5:

“Obviously [the goal is to] be successful out there and show ONE Championship that I’m able to go out there and perform, to meet the expectations of what they want. I want to go out there and put on a great performance.”

Fans react to the return of Sage Northcutt

Sage Northcutt has been gone for a long time. At one point, ‘Super’ Sage was one of the most talked about prospects in the world and had accomplished a lot by the age of 22.

Now 26, Sage hasn’t fought in nearly four years and is yet to really showcase his worth in ONE Championship after signing with the promotion following a run in the UFC, during which he scored six impressive wins.

His comeback was recently announced for ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video. That prompted the question, where are the fans at with Sage Northcutt after his hiatus?

There will be MMA fans that who come to the sport in recent years, not knowing about him and his run in the United States that had everyone talking. There will also be ONE Championship fans who have waited a long time to see him back inside the circle after he lost his debut.

Crucially for ONE Championship, there will be U.S. fans who haven’t seen or heard much from him since he joined the promotion, and they will be able to watch the event in person in Broomfield, Colorado, or watch from the comfort of their own homes via Prime Video.
