Sage Northcutt showcased his spinning head kick during training.

On May 5th, Northcutt will fight for the first time in three years after recovering from several facial fractures and a severe case of COVID. ‘Super’ is scheduled to return to action at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video against Ajmed Mujtaba, who is coming off back-to-back first-round finishes.

Northcutt is training hard to ensure his second appearance in the Circle is a success. The American lightweight recently posted an Instagram video of a picture-perfect spinning head kick with the caption saying:

“Be sure to tune in May 5th for my fight! #ONEFightNight10”

‘Super’ Sage made his ONE Championship debut in May 2019 in a welterweight bout against Muay Thai specialist Cosmo Alexandre. Northcutt had high expectations after signing with ONE, but Alexandre had other plans for their matchup. ‘Good Boy’ secured an electrifying knockout in 29 seconds, leading the American to get surgery for several facial fractures.

Sage Northcutt reveals Urijah Faber will corner him for ONE Fight Night 10

Sage Northcutt has spent most of his career training at Team Alpha Male in Sacramento, California. One of the primary influences in Northcutt’s career is Team Alpha Male owner and legendary MMA fighter Urijah Faber.

During an interview with The MMA Superfan, ‘Super’ Sage had this to say about Faber being in his corner:

“Yeah, I have Urijah Faber there as well. It’s been obviously, I believe three years since I fought and he’s super excited, and I’m really excited for him coaching and to be in my corner. We’re gonna be working tons of good stuff and my game plan for this fight is just making sure I’m ready.”

Before transitioning to MMA, Northcutt became a multi-time karate world champion and undefeated kickboxer. Northcutt joined ONE Championship with an MMA record of 11-1 with eight wins inside the distance. Although his promotional debut didn’t go as planned, the 27-year-old believes he has a long career ahead of him, especially at lightweight.
