‘Super’ Sage Northcutt had no trouble standing up to bullies in school.

Northcutt made his triumphant return to the Circle on May 5, scoring a quick heel hook submission victory against Pakistani mixed martial arts champion Ahmed Mujtaba at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video. After sitting on the sidelines for four years, many expected the Texas native to show signs of rust. That was far from the case.

With his first ONE Championship win under his belt, Northcutt appeared on Fistivities with KB & Renato Laranja to discuss his critically-acclaimed return. During the conversation, he detailed his childhood, including an incident where he was forced to take action while being surrounded by a group of bullies.

“There was a bunch of kids in school, they’re actually a bunch of wrestlers too, they got in a circle and got around me so that way the coach couldn’t see,” Northcutt said.

“But I put a choke on the guy and I said ‘Hey, don’t be a bully’. After that, I don’t think he bullied anyone again. I was just helping out people who couldn’t help out themselves,” he added.

Sage Northcutt improved to 12-3 with his win over Ahmed Mujtaba. Avoiding damage in the bout, ‘Super’ would like to get back inside the Circle as fast as possible. He even has an opponent in mind — Japanese combat sports legend Shinya Aoki.

The pair were previously scheduled to scrap at ONE on TNT 4 in 2021, but an especially difficult bout with COVID-19 forced Northcutt to delay his return. With a clean bill of health and a big win under his belt, the photogenic standout believes now is the right to rebook a clash with the former ONE lightweight world champion.

If you missed any of the action, or just want to relive one of the most epic nights in ONE Championship history, the ONE Fight Night 10 replay can be watched live via Amazon Prime Video in North America.
